Emir Kaya

Intelligent and endowed with a powerful memory and computational capabilities, Emir caught the attention of his teachers and those around him. But despite these admirable attributes, he was an introvert and could not relate well socially that his father neither thought of him as exceptional nor gifted which pushed Emir to constantly prove himself and what he was capable of, to his father. He believes this is a critical factor that led to his success. But to his father, the things he was doing were strange based on most people’s standards and because of this, his father called him a “Martian”; an incompetent Martian.
It was during his high school years that Emir became extremely interested in computers and art, two fields of study which would later play critical roles in his future. After graduating from high school in 1999, he gained admittance to the prestigious Sharif University of Technology. That’s where he majored in Physics. At the same time, he would have been able to study Computer Science at the Azad University albeit his father did not give permission for him to do so, citing the high tuition fees as an excuse, although he could have afforded it. Emir did not attend his university classes regularly, but he nevertheless successfully passed all his courses. Still, his interest in computers did not wane and he started to take computer courses in his second year at university. He did not have his own computer and yet qualified to teach computer classes at the University of Science and Technology to graduating students of Computer Science. He, himself, was still a sophomore Physics major! In addition to teaching while a student, he also worked at a software programming company where he successfully completed a project after only a few weeks, which led to his promotion as the company’s Technical Director.
Emir Kaya was so prolific and industrious that Shahid Rajaee University hired him to create an educational software system for the university. The result was a powerful system that the university continued to use for many years. After completing this project and his university studies, he went for the compulsory military service. Although this period in his life was not a pleasant experience, it was then that his exceptional capabilities caught attention. In 2006, while still in the military, he decided to further pursue the ideas he had while working for that software company in his student days. To reach his goals, he established his own software company called “Rozane”. This was Emir Kaya’s first business endeavor which he originally intended as a company that would customize a variety of applications for clients. However, in the ensuing days, months, and even up to the early years of its inception, his company did not do well. Social and political conditions of the times were tense and economically detrimental that it was not surprising for Emir Kaya and his staff to go through a rough patch. The company was not earning, and life became difficult for Emir that he could hardly afford his basic necessities. So, he went back to teaching computer classes to be able to continue paying his staff their salaries and to support himself.
In 2009 he developed a web-based financial software for companies to use which was a first in Iran. Initially, his intention was to develop a small software program, but it soon became a big project, and resulted in being the first and biggest web-based financial software in Iran. In 2010, things gradually turned for the better. It was in the Elecomp Tehran Exhibition that the software program he had developed attracted many customers, and the company started gaining profit. A year later, his company “Rozane” was performing well and with the better condition of the company Emir decided to expand the scope of his business. He started off by developing his own exclusive BPMS software program. It was based on his own idea, and he wrote the program himself. It was a software program which a team of programmers would be expected to finish in two years, but Emir Kaya developed and completed it by himself in three months. It was a software program that was very different from similar models and soon its sales performance went exceptionally well. Government agencies bought the program as well as large conglomerates like the Iran Telecommunication Company which purchased the program for all its subsidiaries.
Emir Kaya’s company had made its mark. A company which once struggled to find customers now chose its clients and was in excellent financial and professional standing. But Emir kaya was not one to sit on his laurels and he continued to reach for ambitious goals. His experience working in the field of finance and the development of the BPMS and a financial software, made him an expert in finance, information analysis, and capital markets. After he was able to build his company up to a level of reasonable sustainability, he then decided to totally relinquish the affairs of his company to his colleagues and immigrate to Turkey. After emigration, he chooses "Emir Kaya" for himself; Emir being Amir, and Kaya meaning stone.
After settling in Turkey, Emir decided to expand his business ventures and thus established ‘Kaya Holdings’ in Dubai while simultaneously developing his businesses in Iran and Turkey.
During the period of time of his emigration from Iran, he turned his attention once more to the passion of his adolescence. He dwelt on two areas of art: one, “Furniture and Decoration” and two, “Art Collection”. His first investment on Furniture and Decoration was a factory for a collection called Nomanzi, a collection that made use of art and the abilities of creative designers to produce modern and unique pieces of furniture and decoration in Iran. In a short period of time, he proved the difference of his products with those of his competitors. These days, Nomanzi remains a leading brand in the furniture and decoration industry, a brand that continues to expand in scope with the involvement of well-known and prominent designers in the design of its products.
Meanwhile, Emir’s interest in art works led him to collect works of artists and pieces of collectibles such as valuable paintings and sculptures by the most prominent artists of the Middle and Far East, valuable pieces of collectibles designed by the most famous designers, and digital works like many NFTs. Emir’s vast collection forms the “Kaya Collection”, a collection that grows bigger day by day and making Emir Kaya one of the great collectors in today’s art world.
Today, Emir Kaya is known as a savvy businessman, investor, entrepreneur and a collector. As a model for so many, he is asked what he attributes his success to and how he had reached where he is now. His reply in his own words is, “Since I was 14, I worked constantly, not even taking a day off work. I did not go on trips, nor to the movies or to parties. All those years, I worked from home and my office, and did not take time out for leisure, although for me, my work by itself was my leisure time. This was a big factor in my success and also because of the fact that I focused and didn’t think of anything else.” Quote. Unquote.
